Ukraine, The First Champy Overseas

Speechless, yeah, malam ini aku benar-benar speechless ! bagaimana tidak, sebuah kiriman email tak terduga datang dari ISCS'11 Organizing Committee, International Scientific Converence in Sumy, Ukraina. Email itu merupakan balasan singkat dari tesis yang kukirimkan kemarin malam. dan . . . #benar-benar speechless

Awalnya aku iseng-iseng buka grup facebook PPSDMS V, yaitu grup temen-temen beswan Program Pembinaan Sumber Daya Manusia Strategis Nurul Fikri. aku memang hobi cek info grup-grup tersebut untuk meningkatkan motivasi diri. Karena setiap postingan pasti bermanfaat. entah itu hanya sekedar sharing-sharing pengalaman temen yang ada di luar negeri atau info-info kompetisi dan konferensi nasional dan internasional. malam itu, ada sebuah postingan yang menarik perhatian saya. yaitu sebuah konferensi international di Ukraina yang bertemakan Economy for Ecology.

Spontan, aku teringat dengan tugas kuliahku Desain produk 4, yaitu perancangan 7 SKS yang kreditnya seperti Tugas Akhir (TA). Memang, kali ini tugasku berhubungan dengan eco-design dan ekologi gitu deh. Pengembangan varian produk berbahan eceng gondok 'plus' dengan pendekatan eco-design untuk meningkatkan daya saing usaha kecil menengah (UKM). Selain itu, aku juga teringat karya tulis ilmiah buat syarat mahasiswa berprestasi 2011 yang notabenenya merupakan modifikasi dari proposal PKM-K ku tahun kemarin yang gagal dikirim karena salah format. Judulnya cukup unik, sesuai dengan judul blogku ini (karena memang terinspirasi dari sana). Future Fleur Furniture : Pemanfaatan Kulit Bunga Mahoni Sebagai Material Alternatif Furniture Masa Depan Dengan Konsep Eco-Design.

Tanpa ba bi bu, segera kumodifikasi lagi dua tesisku itu kedalam thesis berbahasa inggris untuk dikirim ke ISCS 2011 di Sumi, Ukraine pada 6-9 Mei bulan depan. setelah mendapat invitation mail diatas, ya... minimal optimis untuk abroad ke luar negeri. walaupun, jujur, saat ini aku masih buta. apa saja yang harus diurus, sama sekali tidak tahu. Belum lagi nyari sponsor buat biaya kesana. Mana ada biaya aku berangkat sendiri, hhehe. mohon doanya ya teman-teman. Semoga pertengahan Mei jadi berangkat kesana. Amiiin. (sembari speechless, nyari-nyari data tentang Ukraina ah . . . )

About Ukraine

Ukraine is an independent sovereign state. Though, many people think that our country is a part of Russian Federation. It is a big mistake - Ukraine isn't a part of Russia. Ukraine supports friendly relations with Russia.

Ukraine is a neighbor of European Union. It has a status of a country with a market economy. Our government is implementing a special developed program to enter the WTO.

Language

In Ukraine people speak Ukrainian (it is our national language) and Russian. Lots of people know and speak English (mostly youth).

Currency

Our national currency is called "HRIVNA" (1 $ ≈ 8 hrivna, 1 euro ≈ 11 hrivna)

Advices:

• Take some cash with you, because the system of electronic payments is not so widely spread in our country;
• Change money only in Banks;
• You can use only International Banking Cards (MasterCard and Visa International).

Sumy

The symbol of the city is "ALTANKA". You should visit it! Besides, there are a lot of interesting historical and modern places. You can see them at the pictures!

Sumy is famous for it's nature. It is so beautiful especial in spring, when the nature awakes. You'll have a chance to admire the beauty of the nature during our conference, because some events will take place in the forest near the river.

There are such higher educational establishments in Sumy as Sumy State University, Sumy National Agriculture University, Sumy State Pedagogical University, Ukrainian National Academy of Banking and lots of small departments from other cities. Our conference is organized on the base of Sumy State University. This university has highly developed international relations. Our students take part in many International conferences regularly. By the way students from 40 countries study in Sumy.

National meals

The food in Ukraine is similar to European food. But we have also specifically national Ukrainian dishes here in Ukraine. For example, such as:

1. Ukrainian Borsch with pampushky.
2. Varenyky
3. Salo
4. Zaholod
5. Korowai.
